A lot of our custom mini builds are spec'd with a sound system and we needed a way to effectively hide the front speakers.
We've come up with 3D printed speaker covers for when you want to mount the speakers behind the fresh air vents. Threads are modeled into the covers so the OEM trim rings can screw and hold on to the covers.
3D printed in a black resin using stereolithography (SLA) technology, the result is a close to injection molded finish, requiring very minimal surface prep. It is also fully solid so sanding won't negatively affect the top layer.
Due to the way it is printed, there will be artifacts on the back (small nubs). It is not visible from the front but they can be easily sanded off. Same goes on the four supporting structures leading to the center knob.
The vent pictured installed in the dashboard is of the old 3D printed type. Our new version is a darker black with a much smoother surface.
