
SMCO D16 Alternator Bracket Install Guide
To fit the SMCO D series alternator kit you will need to trim some of the webbing on the back of the block. In the example photo we are using our mock-up D16y8 engine, but other engines will be similar.
The area colored in blue will need to be removed for the alternator to fit.
When building an engine we remove this material with a mill, however, the more DIY method would be to use a sandpaper flap disk on an angle grinder, so that is what we have shown here.
Go slowly and remove the webbing so that the alternator can mount as shown.

Be sure to wear a mask and tape up the engine so that aluminum dust can't make its way inside.
